As a Harry Potter fan myself, some of the fans just need to settle down with this recent interview the authoress had with Wonderland Magazine.

The interview was reported by The Sunday Times where Rowling revealed in an interview with Wonderland's guest editor Emma Watson, most famous for playing Hermione in the Harry Potter films.

“I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment. That’s how it was conceived, really," Rowling stated to Wonderland. "For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron.”

Once the interview was reported and hit the web, fans in droves took to Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and Tumblr to express their rage.

Now as a writer and artist myself, I understand why Rowling would feel some regret towards an artistic decision. Ideas that seem good at the time, we as the artist, may find ridiculous later down the road.

Needless to say despite Rowling's regret on the decision, she has no plans to rewrite the series because of this little part. Writers and artists are their own worst critics. Rowling has a right to judge her own work and think differently on discussions she made in the past. The books are already there and set in stone, the only thing that will be changed (and already has been) is the book cover art.

Fans just really need to chill out when writers and artists alike state that they wish they could change something in their work. It is these very thoughts that allow us to form new ideas and to act on them.

As a Harry Potter fan and fellow writer, I say to you Ms. Rowling, that I was actually in favor of Harry and Hermione getting together in the end. Needless to say however, you crafted an excellent world that I grew up with and one day I wish my future children can enter this world and basque in its wonders as I did.
