Jason Aldean may have many talents under his belt, but the superstar found himself floored by a musical request recently that came from none other than his own teenage daughter.

Aldean tells Taste of Country Nights' Sam Alex that he was pleased to hear about his oldest daughter Keeley's interest in learning guitar. He sat down to go over the basics with her, then found out there was a little catch involved.

"She just came up to me a couple months ago and said she wanted to start learning how to play guitar," Aldean relates. "I was like, 'Well, okay, what do you want to learn? Do you want to learn how to play rhythm? Rhythm acoustic, kinda like I play?'"

Sorry, Dad. Turns out the 15-year-old had something else in mind: "She was like 'No. I want to play like Slash, from Guns N’ Roses.'”

Aldean knew he was in over his head (hey, you try playing the solo in "Sweet Child O' Mine"), but admitted to Keeley, "I like where your head’s at."

The solution? "I pulled up some videos on YouTube that showed her some scales, and I was like 'Learn this first, and we’ll re-evaluate once you get these scales down.'”

Aldean has no problem with YouTube being the teacher, at least for now. "I learned to play by ear, so I technically can’t sit there and go 'it’s this,' or 'it’s that,'” he says. "I’m a rhythm player — I can’t sit there and rip off a solo for you. I learned by listening to records and figuring it out. I play chords all the time that I don’t even know what the name of the chord is!"

For added support, he notes that he plans to have his lead guitarist come in and show Keeley a few things. "It’s pretty cool that she’s just showing interest in it," he concluded. "I think any time that you can learn to play an instrument, no matter what it is, that’s only going to be a great thing."
