Only a few weeks after she announced that she is splitting from Marc Anthony, actress/singer/’American Idol’ host Jennifer Lopez opened up to Vanity Fair about the downfall of her marriage and why she’s still an “eternal optimist.”

In an exclusive cover story, Lopez revealed: “It’s not that I didn’t love myself before. Sometimes we don’t realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself – if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me.”

“I love myself enough to walk away from that now,” she added (via PEOPLE).

Still, given her number of public and failed relationships, Lopez remains an eternal optimist about love. “I believe in love,” she said.

Meanwhile, The Wrap is reporting that Lopez will return to ‘American Idol’ next season in a deal that is worth “a smidge over” $20 million.
