Jillian Michaels’ 3 Rules For Working Out Without a Gym
I am trying really hard to get back into shape. I’ve started drinking an Herbalife shake at lunch time and an Herbalife tea in the afternoon (I get them at Pair of Dice Nutrition in East Gore Plaza) and then eat a sensible, low calorie meal at dinner time. I have lost 11 pounds so far! YAY! I just don’t seem to find the time (or energy) to go to the gym. It is probably just a terrible excuse, but when I get off work I like to go home and take a nap before David gets home.
I have a membership to the Lawton Family YMCA. They have specialty classes, equipment, free weights and 2 swimming pools. Lots of stuff to do and they are going through major renovations right now. I could go there when I get off work but I get into my car and just want to drive home. I definitely get a work out at home sometimes. Hauling hay, fixing fences, chasing cattle, etc. Here are 3 rules for working out without a gym from NBC’s The Biggest Losers own Jillian Michaels.
- Become a Trailblazer: The great outdoors offer just as good a workout as any gym. “First thing I would say is check out Trails.com, It’ll give you great running, biking and jogging trails and then, of course, you can do all of those things.”
- Hit the Playground: Playgrounds aren’t just for whipping video-game addicted kids into shape. “Go to even a kids’ playground and you can run sprint trails and suicides and you can do pull-ups on the jungle gym.”
- Take a Dive: If you like a little variety in your fitness regimen, you can get creative and take your workout off dry land. “Get outside and go kayaking, paddle boarding or take surfing lessons if there is a body of water in your immediate vicinity.” Not only will a change-up work new muscles, but it will prevent you from getting into a rut and possibly ditching your routine altogether.
