Kacey Musgraves was honored with the Innovator Award at the 2018 Billboard Women in Music event, held in New York on Dec. 6. The title was earned largely due to the songstress' 2018 critically-acclaimed album, Golden Hour.

It's a project that also earned Musgraves a slot on Saturday Night Live, a win for Album of the Year at the CMA Awards and four 2019 Grammy nominations, including Best Country Album and the all-genre Album of the Year.

"Innovator to me means having the courage to take risks knowing that it could completely fail and doing it anyway," Musgraves remarked in her acceptance speech, also sharing her support for the power of women in modern society.

"I know that the female perspective is so important ... I feel really hopeful and really proud of the state of the modern woman: her bravery, her unapologetic celebrations of rights, body and mind, her art," she added. "And definitely most of all, her unabashed realness, and I've been craving realness for so long."
