Keith Urban took time out of his performance at the 2018 Jack Daniel’s Music City Midnight: New Year’s Eve celebration to honor the musical legends who died in 2017. Readers can press play above to watch the seamless medley of hits that span generations and genres.

Urban opened his tribute performance with "Black Hole Sun," a tribute to late Soundgarden and Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell, then transitioned flawlessly into "Midnight Rider" to honor Gregg Allman. "Johnny B. Goode" for Chuck Berry, "Tulsa Time" for Don Williams, “Wichita Lineman" for the legendary Glen Campbell, "My Town" for Montgomery Gentry's Troy Gentry and "Back in Black" for AC/DC's Malcolm Young all followed, before the moving medley ended with a full rendition of Tom Petty's "Free Fallin'," during which Urban called on the audience for a sing-a-long.

As video of Urban's performance spread online, Cornell's widow Vicky posted her gratitude to Urban for his tribute to her late husband on Instagram: "Thank you @keithurban for the beautiful tribute for @chriscornellofficial - bringing in the New Year with his memory."

Urban's tribute medley is now a two-year tradition: He did something similar when he performed at Nashville's New Year's Eve celebration to ring in 2017 as well.

Nashville's New Year's Eve concert also featured Maren Morris, who performed a duet with Urban, Cheap Trick, Carly Pearce and more. Despite frigid temperatures, fans packed the show at Music City's Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park.
