Keith Urban invited Kayla Sarro to the stage to sing “We Were Us” with him at the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival, and she may not have wanted to leave. Judging from the crowd’s reaction, they may have been just fine with the New Yorker sticking around, too. Watch as she makes the most of her moment on one of the biggest stages in the northeast.

The Saratoga Springs native was chosen to sing Miranda Lambert’s part of the duet from Urban’s Fuse album. After some chit-chat, Sarro locks in to begin the song. Remember, it’s the female voice that sings first, so any nerves she may have had needed to be pushed aside quickly.

That wasn’t an issue. As Urban picks the guitar introduction, Sarro belts out her verse like it was written for her. “Saratoga Springs representing!” Urban cries out after both have finished exploding through the chorus.

Sarro clearly has some stage experience. Even during Urban’s parts she’s stomping and clapping like an old pro while fans and family dressed in “Team Kayla” T-shirts cheer her on six rows back. Similar moments have become a staple of Urban’s live show in recent years, and it’s a show-stopper the superstar and Country Jam Colorado headliner clearly relishes.

This lucky girl won a radio contest through Albany radio station 107.7 WGNA. Urban’s team picked her from several finalists chosen by the staff at GNA. Before the show she told them the “nerves were coming in waves," but it barely showed. After she left, Urban powered through his nearly 90-minute set, singing hits like “Raise ‘Em Up” and “Cop Car” and his new song, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16.”
