Kellie Pickler, the Avett Brothers Among 2016 North Carolina Music Hall of Fame Inductees

The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame has revealed its Class of 2016, and country, folk and Americana fans will recognize a couple of the artists selected for induction. Among this year's inductees are Kellie Pickler, the Avett Brothers and Rhiannon Giddens & the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

The country singer, Americana quartet and old-time string band will be added to the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in October, during the organization's annual induction ceremony. Pickler was born in Albemarle, N.C., while the Avett Brothers hail from Concord, N.C., and Giddens & the Carolina Chocolate Drops are from Greensboro, N.C., and Durham, N.C.

In addition to the three aforementioned acts, the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame Class of 2016 also includes the late funk guitarist Chuck Brown, beach music band Band of Oz, the late jazz artist Percy Heath, folk artist and storyteller David Holt and the Temptations' Ron Tyson.

Other well-known inductees into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame include Clay Aiken, Del Reeves, producer Tony Brown, Stonewall Jackson, Charlie Daniels, Earl Scruggs, Ronnie Milsap, James Taylor, Doc Watson, Ben Folds and Ben E. King. In 2015, Eric Church was inducted into the Hall of Fame; although he was not scheduled to attend the event himself, with his mother and sister there to accept on his behalf, the singer surprised the crowd with an appearance and one-song acoustic performance.

The North Carolina Music Hall of Fame's 2016 induction ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 20 in Kannapolis, N.C. The red carpet will be open to the public, and VIP and general admission tickets for the ceremony itself will be available this summer at the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame Museum.
