While several of the biggest 2012 ACM Awards will be doled out April 1 during the live telecast on CBS, time restrictions keep the other honorees from being awarded on-camera. For those awards that won’t make the televised time slot — Special Awards, Industry Awards, Musician, Bandleader and Instrumentalist (MBI) and Songwriter of the Year — the Academy of Country Music is hosting its sixth annual ACM Honors event on Sept. 24, 2012, in Nashville.

One of the big names who will be celebrated that night is Kenny Chesney, who will be receiving the Crystal Milestone Award for his remarkable achievements, which include becoming a four-time ACM Entertainer of the Year, selling more than 10,500,000 tickets on 11 national tours, playing sold out shows in huge venues across the country and promoting the country genre to fans while also investing in younger country artists. Other country stars who have bagged this award in the past include Garth Brooks and Sugarland‘s Jennifer Nettles.

Another country great with an early win scheduled to be honored at the Sept. 24 event is Alan Jackson, who will walk away with the Jim Reeves International Award, an award that is awarded to an artist for “outstanding contributions to the acceptance of country music throughout the world.” In this vein, Jackson played shows in Norway and Sweden first in 2009 and again last year, and his 2008 record ‘Good Time’ went platinum in Norway as well. Jackson has also taken his show to Australia, the UK and Germany and has plans to hit Canada later this year. Others who have received this award include Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift, Keith Urban and more.

Vince Gill will too be a guest of honor at the Nashville ACM shindig, being awarded with the Career Achievement Award for advancing the popularity and acceptance of country music through his work in multiple areas of the entertainment industry last year. Gill’s 2011 record ‘Guitar Slinger‘ garnered him a huge response and wide following, even meriting Gill a week in his honor set aside from Nashville Mayor Karl Dean surrounding the album release.

Gill also held the seat of Grand Marshal of Nashville’s Christmas parade and landed a ‘Good Housekeeping’ cover with wife Amy Grant, also sharing the stage with Sting for the show ‘CMT Crossroads.’ Adding to all of this were Gill’s various talk show appearances and his Grammy for ‘Threaten Me With Heaven.’ Others who have taken home this coveted award include Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Reba McEntire and more.

Chesney, Jackson and Gill are just three in a long list of country stars who will be receiving honors at the non-telecast ACM event, according to a press release.
