Kenny Chesney performed "Noise" at the 2016 ACM Awards. The song is from his upcoming Some Town Somewhere album.

Chesney's performance reminded everyone why he is still one of the reigning superstars of country music. Stopping to greet fans while he sang, decked out in his standard T-shirt and tight jeans, complete with a black cowboy hat, he was flawless throughout the song, giving a heartfelt delivery of his current single.

“Sometimes you know you’ve got something so timely, so right then, you have to grab it,” Chesney says of "Noise." “It seemed like everywhere I turn, everywhere I go, there is so much stuff coming at you. Your phone, your car, on the streets, on TV. Everywhere it’s just so loud, so much, so many different things — all pushing buttons, being sensational, shouting for attention. You can’t escape it, and you can’t turn it down.”

It's been almost two years since Chesney last released an album with 2014's The Big Revival, but Chesney says that Some Town Somewhere will definitely be worth the wait.

“There’s a moment you feel a record grab hold and take shape,” Chesney says. “You can have great songs and not have an album. You can have a killer record that won’t move people on the radio. The idea is to balance both, then hopefully create something that does both, that also says something as a whole. I think we’re on our way.”

Chesney is nominated for one trophy tonight, for Vocal Event of the Year for "Wild Child" with Grace Potter.
