It's been nearly 30 years since Kenny Rogers & Dolly Parton were enjoying the success of 'Islands In The Stream'. Did you know the song was written with an R & B singer in mind?

The Bee Gees wrote the song in an R & B style with thoughts of Marvin Gaye recording it. The arrangement was changed when Kenny Rogers decided to put it on his Eyes The See In The Dark album - which by no coincidence was produced by the Bee Gees.

Along with it's #1 status on the country chart, it topped the pop chart and was atop the year-end country chart in 1983.
