The first annual Lake Latonka Beach Blast kicks off this afternoon at 4pm on the shores of lovely Lake Latonka in Lawton. The event, which will include a paint party on the beach, food trucks, and games, as well as a showing of the perfect movie to float in an innertube and watch, the classic boy-meets-fish tale (tail?) 'Jaws'!

Entry is $5, thirteen and over, twelve and under are free. The event, hosted by Lawton's Community Baptist Church, will be donating the proceeds to help the Lawton Police and Fire Departments, Animal Welfare, and the group Fix Lawton.

The main focus of the event is to raise funds for animal ventilators for the Lawton Fire Dept, bullet proof vests for newly Lawton Police dogs, proper cat kennels for Lawton Animal Welfare, and to help provide spay and neutering services through Fix Lawton.

Alcohol is prohibited but you may bring coolers, and even though they are the focus of the event, pets are also not allowed. If you can't make it to the bash, but still want to contribute to the cause, donations are are being accepted at Community United Methodist Church, 1001 Southwest  F Avenue.
