As the temps cool off, the lake lunkers are coming back out to play! A huge congrats to Denise in here super impressive Lawtonka lunker!

A lot of people tend to think of fishing as a Summer outdoor sport, but that's not the best  season for sport fishing.

Fish are just like any other living creature, when it's hot, they want to cool off and relax. Typically, in hot Summer months, fish will hang in the deeper cool waters of a lake. For sport species like large and small mouth bass, that means you have to fish deeper, and entice those little butterballs into exerting the energy it'll take to bite you bait. And bass fisherman don't like fishing deep. It's like running a marathon where you don't move much. You just stand around in your own sweat, hoping a little breeze comes by, but it never does. To top it off, there's no second place prize. You either win the day, or it's a complete failure.

As the temps continue to fall, try to get out more as your odds will improve. Chances are, if you have to take a hoodie, it's going to be as good a day as it possibly can be... but the Fall bite only lasts for a few months. It will start slow down when cool temps become cold, but that only means crappie season is warming up.
