Waurika, Oklahoma is a community made up of a little over 2,000 people and it truly is the picture of the typical Small Town USA that I have the privilege to call home.  Most days are uneventful compared to the tempo of those that outnumber our population, but I am proud to find one of our own Serviceman is changing the world abroad and doing it as a hero.  Chief Aviation Warfare Systems Operator (AW) Daniel Brantley, of Waurika, was one of four serviceman who came to the aide of an ocean kayaker in distress.

'Chief Brantley lowered the safety strap, secured the survivor, briefed him how we would be pulled up into the helicopter. We then finished executing the rescue and flew the survivor back to the flight deck at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division.'
