Just about 5 weeks ago, after losing to Del City and with an even record of 2-2, the Macarthur Highlanders would have never dreamed that by the end of the regular season they would be in a 3-way tie for first place.

Traveling down to Ardmore the Highlanders new all they had to do was beat Ardmore by 5 points and they would be district champs. The Highlanders looked very confident and poised as they walked confidently out of the tunnel to begin the contest.

On a cool and windy November evening, Big Mac wasted little time getting on track and going up 23-7 at the half. And after scoring their final time in the 3rd quarter, the Highlanders were up 30-7.  At that point it looked like it was all wrapped up, but Ardmore, who just last week came back from a 28-7 deficit against Altus to win 35-34 in the 4th quarter, made things interesting by scoring at the end of the 3rd and again with about 5 minutes left in the game bringing the score within 8 points for the final of 30-22.

Several factors such as, going for it on 4th down twice, the addition of a heavy dose of new comer Cory Robbinson, and the fact that quarterback Will Collins and receivers Gary McKnight Jr. and Barry Williams have been putting on a clinic over the last few weeks, showed that Ardmore just could not stop the Highlanders.

Big Mac will need all of those weapons and a defensive show if they want to beat Deer Creek this Friday night at Cameron stadium at 7:00pm.

Check back early in the week for a sneak preview of week 1 of the playoffs.
