It is illegal to transport many things across state lines, but a dead body isn't one of them.

According to Everything Lubbock, a man with an out-of-state license plate stopped by a car dealership in Lubbock Wednesday (April 1) for an oil change. Authorities were called after the man apparently told a technician on duty not to open the trunk of his car because "his mom was back there."

Upon hearing this, an employee at the shop notified authorities who quickly investigated.

Officers responding later said that the individual who owned the car had all the proper paperwork to transport his deceased mother. The son reportedly told officers that he had been traveling for two days to take his dead mother to her funeral.

Since no crime was committed, he was allowed to go.
