Santa is starting to gear up his busy holiday schedule, and it will include an appearance this Saturday in Marlow as he joins the Marlow Christmas Parade, which is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m., marching right down Main Street.

Santa will be the featured guest, and will be bringing plenty of candy and good cheer to town for the parade. Organizers recognize the enormous amount of happiness that jolly ol' St. Nick will be bringing to town, and in order to avoid an overload, have asked that parade participants not include imposter Santas on their floats or other entries.

Organizers of the parade have asked that entries, including tractors, begin lining up in the area around Marlow High School by 9 a.m. The exception to this is horses and horse-drawn entries, which are to start their line-up at Marlow City Hall. These entries will then be escorted to the line-up area at the start of the parade.

There will also be first and second place trophies awarded in the individual horse and horse-drawn vehicle categories. Ribbons will be awarded to best decorated bicycles in two categories: children 7 years and younger and age 8 and older.

Although the Marlow Chamber of Commerce says that preregistration is not required to participate in the parade on Saturday, it does recommend to anyone interested should contact the Chamber offices at 580 658-2212. Vehicles must be decorated in the spirit of the holiday in order to qualify for prizes.
