Call it paradise by the Christmas lights.

Big-voiced rock icon Meat Loaf has announced plans for a holiday album — and in his typically over-the-top style, he’s going all out. Why settle for a quiet night of carols when you can sing along with some of country’s biggest stars?

For the album, currently titled ‘Hot Holidays’ and pegged for release during the holiday shopping season, Meat Loaf lined up Garth Brooks and Reba McEntire to help him share the Christmas spirit — all part of a very busy, and guest-packed, recording schedule that should see no fewer than three fresh Loaf albums on shelves in the near future.

It all started with ‘Hell in a Hand Basket,’ an upcoming solo project. As he told Billboard during a recent interview, “After I played Sony (‘Hell in a Hand Basket’) I said, ‘Look, I’ve got two other records. I’ve got a Christmas record and I’ve got another record,’ and they said, ‘Well, get us the Christmas record and start working on the other one.’ So there you go — I’ll just keep recording.”

Oh, and that “other one”? It’s slated to feature appearances from Meat Loaf’s ‘Celebrity Apprentice’ castmate Lil Jon and Public Enemy’s Chuck D. The man the New York Times famously referred to as “Mr. Loaf” is nothing if not eclectic.
