Every once in awhile we need to take some "girl time".  I did just that on Saturday.  My friend Tauna and I met at the Kiwanis Pancake Days for breakfast on Saturday and then headed to Oklahoma City to attend a book signing by The Pioneer Woman - Ree DrummondWe arrived in Oklahoma City a couple hours early so we decided to do some shopping.  When we got to the Full Circle Book Store at 50 Penn Place it was about 11:30 and Ree wasn't supposed to arrive until 1pm.  Tauna and I looked through the new cook books while we were waiting and found some fun recipes we want to try.

In true Pioneer Woman style, the book is sprinkled with her beautiful photography and her funny quips.  The recipes look very easy and appetizing and I'm looking forward to trying them all!

They split everyone up in groups of 50 and we were in group 1.  We were one of the first few to have our books signed and as we were headed out of the store I noticed women walking around with the number 12!  That's over 600 people waiting to meet Ree and have their book signed.  Last year she stayed until 1am signing books!  I was told "she really doesn't mind it."

Our adventure continued with fire roasted pizza and sangria at Pepperoni Grill.  We both thought the food was fabulous, our waiter Eric was fun and the Strawberry Peach Sangria was to die for!  Next it was back to shopping and a pedicure.  It was fun to get away and laugh all afternoon.  A girl has to do that every once in awhile.

We have two of Ree's new cookbooks that will be auctioned off for the Children's Starlight Fund.  We will have the books at our Taste of Home Cooking School on April 10th.  You can get all the details, including tickets on our events page!
