These Singers Will Be Standing for the National Anthem
Singer Meghan Linsey knelt at the end of her National Anthem performance on Sunday (Sept. 24), but she’s not an exclusive representative of the country music genre. Response on social media finds many more artist who believe everyone should stand during the “Star Spangled Banner.”
Kid Rock made his opinion known weeks ago, but while no one else in country music came with the same emphasis as he did in expressing how they feel in the hours after dozens of NFL players, coaches and owners took a knee, locked arms or just didn’t take to the sideline during last week’s games, they did come. Craig Campbell tweeted a link to an ESPN story about Pittsburgh Steelers lineman Alejandro Villanueva standing as his teammates waited in the locker room.
“I will stand with you Villanueva … any and every time,” he said.
John Rich also tweeted, posing a question:

Rich would go on to agree with fans who support standing for the anthem, as does Jana Kramer, who added that she understands that players have the right to protest in a peaceful way. Also of note, Linsey’s ex-boyfriend and ex-Steel Magnolia duo partner Joshua Scott Jones retweeted discontent with the NFL for the protests.
