It has been over 6 months since the huge tornado tore a path through the heart of Moore, Oklahoma. 25 people lost their lives including 7 children at Plaza Towers Elementary. One of those young victims was Nicholas McCabe. Nic Nic to his family and friends.I can not even imagine what it would feel like to lose a child. I'm sure these families continue to struggle with their loss. The McCabe family is no different. They lost their son Nicholas at Plaza Towers Elementary.

Scott McCabe, Nicholas' father, tells Oklahoma News 9 that Nicholas loved the 4th of July. This year, during the families July 4th celebration, Nicholas' cousin Madison had to play alone. She was playing with a sparkler when a member of the family took a photo with their cell phone. "My brother, when he saw it, he said the hair stood up on his neck," McCabe said.

It's that breathtaking photo above that brings comfort to the family.

My husband David and I were watching News 9 last night when the story came on. Both of us looked at each other and at the same time said "I see him!" My entire body got goose bumps. I told David last night that this little boy was so young when he passed that maybe he doesn't know where he is supposed to be.

There are many things that people take as comfort when they lose someone so close to them. Mine is dragonflies. I know, it sounds silly, but shortly after my Dad passed away I was doing something at home and a dragon fly flew right up to my face and just hovered there. Immediately a memory of my Dad mowing the lawn came into my mind. I remember him being surrounded by dragonflies. I thought they would hurt him but he assured me they wouldn't. Now, every time I see a dragon fly my Dad comes into my memory and I feel calm, if only for just a moment, then the tears start to fill the back of my eyes. I miss him every day but now I have surrounded myself with a collection of dragonflies and I have little reminders of him everywhere.

I am happy that the McCabe family can take comfort in this picture of their Nicholas, even if it is just for a brief moment as they look at the photo.
