Randy Travis’ final movie role finds the Hall of Famer playing a dying country legend searching for redemption from an illegitimate son. Singer James Dupré and Travis’ wife Mary also star in The Price.

The movie is set for release to DVD and Netflix on June 15, but this weekend there will be a showing in Opelousas, La. Dupré, a Season 9 finalist on The Voice, is from the area, and he and Travis are slated to appear at the Opelousas Cinema, a benefit for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. He tells Taste of Country  partner radio station 97.3 the Dawg that Travis is excited to be there.

According to the Trumpett Productions website, Travis plays Roy Taggart and Dupré plays Jonah Anderson. After his mother’s death Anderson becomes aware of his famous father, but Taggart denies him. Anderson goes on to win a television music competition called The Price, after which Taggart shows interest. Instead of embracing the opportunity, the young singer walks away from music.

The trailer captures scenes of Travis and Dupré together, and of a sickly country legend lying in bed conceding that he has a son. The movie was filmed before Travis’ 2013 stroke. It’s his last movie or television credit on his IMDB profile.

Dupré called working with his childhood hero a dream come true. "I remember the first day he showed up on set,” he tells Rolling Stone Country. “Before I even had a chance to worry, he came up to me and shook my hand, pulled out his guitar and said he wanted to show me a new song he'd written. I couldn't believe it! So we jammed out for a bit, then went to work.”
