Those in the audience to watch Michael Ray perform Thursday (June 8) at CMA Fest 2017 got even more than they bargained for: They were treated to a surprise performance from Randy Travis.

Ray made the announcement, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, y’all welcome to the stage Mr. Randy Travis.” The audience -- unsurprisingly -- went wild, as Travis was accompanied to the stage by his wife, Mary.

With Travis at his side, Ray led in the audience in a rendition of one of Travis' best-known hits: "Forever and Ever, Amen." The best part of the song, though, was the very end, when Ray hushed the audience so they could hear Travis sing the final "amen."

Ray is clearly a huge Travis fan: He was one of the many stars that took part in the 1 Night. 1 Place. 1 Time: A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis concert in February 2017. He sang "He Walked on Water," which, he tells Country Countdown USA, is his "favorite Randy Travis song."

Travis has been making a number of surprise appearances like this lately. He's shown up at shows by Scotty McCreery and Kane Brown, and even crashed his own Country Music of Hall of Fame induction in 2016 by leading the audience in an emotional rendition of "Amazing Grace."

As he continues to recover from his 2013 stroke, Travis' wife Mary says that these appearances are helping: “He enjoys the music, and I think it’s good for him, just to know that the artists that are still out there, that they love him,” she tells The Boot.
