Did ‘Real Housewives’ Star Bethenny Frankel Make Up Story About Being Rescued at Sea?

It may come as a shock to some people, but a lot of what you see on reality shows is — gasp! — fake. So, it’s probably not a surprise that people are saying that the latest news from one of the stars of Bravo’s ‘Bethenny Ever After’ and ‘Real Housewives’ franchise might not be true, either.

Bethenny Frankel has been making the media rounds, telling the story of how she and her husband were lost at sea off of Nantucket for 21 hours. The only problem with the story is that the man who, ahem, “rescued” her, Tim Russell, tells the Jewish Journal that she didn’t need to be rescued at all, because the boat she was on was functioning fine.

In fact, the reason why Russell was even called by the captain (yes, the boat had a captain, and it turns out the guy is also Frankel’s therapist) was because the Coast Guard refused to rescue them because the didn’t need to be rescued.

Luckily, Frankel also had a six-person film crew filming the adventure on the boat. That was convenient that they were there, eh? Do you think this means the footage will show up on, oh, you know, her reality show?

Frankel has been telling people that she paid Russell $2,800 for the rescue, but Russell says that he never got it.
