One of the most anticipated events held during the 2012 CMA Music Festival is the annual City of Hope Softball Challenge, which brings country music’s biggest stars to the baseball field for a great cause. This year, Scotty McCreery, Carrie Underwood, LoCash Cowboys, Lauren Alaina, Brantley Gilbert, Vince Gill, Chuck Wicks, David Nail, James Otto, Jeffrey Steele and many more have signed on for the big game, set for Saturday, June 9.

Though they’re still warming up, many stars have already begun a rivalry on their Twitter pages over which team will be victorious in the end — the Grand Ole Opry team or the After Midnite team.

LoCash Cowboys’ Chris Lucas and Preston Brust, who will once again be on opposing teams, each boasted their own team over the other. “Y’all can vote for [Preston] all u want, but I got @carrieunderwood on my team!!!” Lucas posted.

“Ohhh … are we talkin about the Softball Game?” Brust chimed back. “We ALL Know Who WON Last Year!!!! … that’s all I’m sayin.”

‘The Voice’ finalist RaeLynn will be competing on the After Midnite team along with fellow reality TV famer and seasoned baseball star Scotty McCreery. “Just found out me and @ScottyMcCreery are on the same team for the @cityofhope game!!” RaeLynn tweeted. “Our team is gonna dominate!!”

Last year’s game raised nearly $200,000, with more than 5,000 fans in attendance. Over the years, the Celebrity Softball Challenge has raised nearly $2 million dollars in all, benefiting City of Hope’s life-saving mission to find cures and better treatments for cancer and a host of other devastating diseases.
