Last week, Scotty McCreery‘s new album ‘Clear as Day’ debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard charts, and it doesn’t look like he’s willing to come down from atop that mountain, even for good friend Lauren Alaina. The ‘American Idol’ runner-up’s album ‘Wildflower’ sold just under 70,000 albums in its first week, enough to place second on the country album charts.

McCreery sold 88,000 copies of ‘Clear as Day’ in its second week. That’s a strong number despite being a 55 percent drop from his debut week sales. The ‘The Trouble With Girls’ singer slips to No. 4 on the overall Billboard chart, while Alaina checks in at No. 5. Her debut album sold 11,000 more copies than 2010 ‘American Idol’ runner-up Crystal Bowersox’s debut.

Martina McBride and Hunter Hayes also released new albums last week. McBride sold 40,000 copies of ‘Eleven’ (No. 4 on the country chart) and Hayes sold just over 17,000 of his self-titled debut (making it No. 7). Lady Antebellum and Jason Aldean had the other two albums in the Top 5 with ‘Own the Night’ and ‘My Kinda Party’ respectively.

Rock band Evanescence had the top album in the country with their new self-titled project, selling 127,000 copies. Adele checked in at No. 2 with ’21′ (110,000), followed by metal rockers Five Finger Death Punch‘s ‘American Capitalist’ (90,000).
