Our first look at Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s take on Marvel’s Ghost Rider was curiously lacking in either ghosts or riding, but the ABC drama is starting to make up for it. A new “found footage” teaser catches the rider speeding away from the scene, and already making a name for himself.

Nine years of Scrubs and multiple movies earned star Zach Braff his pick of projects, though it seems the erstwhile Dr. Dorian has been paged back to ABC. Braff has confirmed a TV return with a new ABC single-camera comedy, given a put-pilot commitment.

The series finale of ABC’s Castle still feels dizzyingly abrupt, given the frantic race for a ninth season amid multiple firings, and a tacked-on conclusion to the Season 8 cliffhanger finale. Longtime fans perhaps hoped the final season DVD might present the cliffhanger ending as originally designed, but producers have curiously declined to include it.

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. may have answered the burning question at Comic-Con, to confirm (a) Ghost Rider inbound, but left on the table was the mysterious new “Director” teased by the Season 3 finale. Now, Season 4 confirms Terra Nova star (and Batman voice!) Jason O’Mara has landed the gig, potentially tying back to the Agent Carter era.

Once the patron saint of TV rescues, Netflix seems more focused on its own original content than picking up stragglers, but the wealth of Marvel content had Agent Carter fans optimistic Peggy might live out Season 3 on the streaming service. Sadly not so, as Netflix bosses now admit “it was a business decision more than a creative one.”

Agent Carter may not return to ABC anytime soon, but that won’t stop Marvel’s TV band from getting back together this fall. Not only do we know when Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 and all ABC’s other wares will premiere in 2016, but also when Hayley Atwell’s new legal drama Conviction will make Peggy proud.

We’re still not over the loss of Marvel’s Agent Carter, even as those rescue hashtags and petitions seem to lose steam, but worse is the knowledge what we might have had. Marvel’s Agent Carter has expired in more ways than one after both Civil War and TV upfronts, but don’t take that to mean Hayley Atwell will say goodbye to the character just yet. Cap’s best gal is still in the loop, and Peggy is apparently none-too-thrilled by Steve’s familial choice of Civil War love interest, nor that headline-making comic reveal.

Despite an attempt to turn things around with a new showrunner in the middle of the first season, The Muppets hasn’t really caught on with audiences the way ABC had hoped. What once seemed like a surefire hit (it’s the Muppets!) turned into a bizarre experiment (it’s a meta-fake-documentary series!) before ultimately becoming an interesting failure (shrug emoji), at best. The short version: ABC has cancelled The Muppets after just one season.

ABC has already lost one fan-favorite today, but the latest affords an even bigger shock. Following a dramatic exit for co-lead Stana Katic, and weeks of deal-making to keep the remaining cast for Season 9, ABC has officially opted to cancel Castle for good after the eighth season finale.

The writing had more or less been on the SSR wall, but this one still stings: Marvel’s Agent Carter has officially hung up the fedora. ABC has opted not to renew Peggy’s post-Cap adventures for a third season, marking the Marvel drama one of the superhero empire’s first official TV cancellations.
