Major League Baseball’s opening day was spread out over a week and a couple continents this year, but by Friday all thirty teams will have kicked 2012 off. To celebrate the new season, Marist Poll surveyed 536 baseball fans on whether or not they would actually be attending any of the games this year. Sorry athletes, but it looks like you won’t have a huge turnout.

As the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas. So are their cholesterol levels, judging by this latest junk food monstrosity.

He admittedly is a little out of shape, but Scotty McCreery made the cut to earn a spot on Garner High School’s Varsity baseball team. The 18-year-old hasn’t pitched since 2010, and even the coach at his hometown school isn’t sure what to expect from the senior.

Friday night was a special time for David Nail on many levels. Last night the Texas Rangers beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-0 in game 4 of the 2011 World Series to even the World Series and 2-2 but the real show took place during a break between innings when a grounds crew member go his grove on.

The scene of the World Series shifted from the chill of St. Louis to the much warmer confines of Texas last night. For Game 3 of the Fall Classic between the Texas Rangers and St. Louis Cardinals, country crooner Ronnie Dunn was called upon to sing he National Anthem, completing the trifecta of country artists singing the song for the first three World Series games.

Someone over at MLB sure loves country music. Last night, Scotty McCreery sang the National Anthem at the first game of the World Series. He was followed by fellow country superstar Trace Adkins, who belted out the song this evening at before Game 2 between the Texas Rangers and the St. Louis Cardinals.

Recently, we learned Abraham Lincoln is a heck of a quarterback. Darth Vader, however, botched his chance to show off his athletic abilities when he one-hopped the first pitch at O.co Coliseum in Oakland before the A’s game against the Tigers on Friday night.
