We’re a little over a week away from the biggest movie of the summer, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. In less than ten years, Marvel has built a powerful brand in Hollywood thanks to their great casting, sharp writing, and an ability to distill decades of comic books down to fun, accessible adventures. A big part of that translation process is the look of their movies, and particularly the look of their characters. And that’s all about costumes, which is a particular specialty of Marvel’s. Between Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the rest, they’ve got some sharp-dressed heroes.

Before Tim Burton’s 1989 Batman movie, Batman was largely known for the campy Adam West/Burt Ward TV series. In fact, they wanted to make a Batman movie based on that show called Batman in Outer Space. Luckily, two movie producers bought the rights and wanted to make a darker version of Batman's story. In the mid-80s, after the success of Ghostbusters, director Ivan Reitman was attached to direct and he wanted to cast Bill Murray as Batman and Eddie Murphy as Robin. We’ve been hearing a lot of rumors about David Ayer’s Suicide Squad over the last week or so, specifically pertaining to the Joker, which will reportedly be based on Frank Miller’s version of the iconic villain in The Dark Knight Returns. The last report only hinted at how Ben Affleck’s Batman might appear in the film, and today’s rumor expands on that a bit, shedding more light on the caped crusader’s role and how he’s viewed in this particular section of the DCU.

I'm going to be real with you, folks: even though we're looking down the barrel of 38 superhero movies over the next few years, the one that I'm looking forward to the most is easily Lego Batman, starring Will Arnett as the Caped and Blocky Crusader. It's just not a movie featuring Bruce Wayne/Batman unless you have the death of Bruce Wayne's parents, thus explaining his mopey origins, is it? Zack Snyder would agree, and so would some new set photos from 'Batman vs. Superman,' which confirm that we will see Thomas and Martha Wayne shot to death yet again, just in case you're not sick of seeing that happen. First there was Chibatman, the Batman impersonator who rides around Japan on a replica of the Batpod from 'The Dark Knight.' Now there's Australian Batman Zac Mihajlovic, who rides around in a customized Batmobile built to replicate the one from Tim Burton's 1989 'Batman' film -- but this isn't just any Batmobile replica or any Batman impersonator. This vehicle is perfectly street-legal, and this Batman uses his persona to spread cheer to sick kids.

A few weeks back, we heard that Ryan Gosling went in to meet about a possible role in WB's 'Suicide Squad' film, but it wasn't clear which role that might have been, as details about which characters might be featured in the movie are still a mystery. According to the latest report, Jared Leto is now up for that role -- and that role could very well be The Joker, Batman's longtime nemesis.
