The second season of FOX’s Gotham ended on the notably WTF sight of a long-haired Bruce Wayne emerging from the bus of Indian Hill escapees, a figure prominently playing into Season 3 promotion thus far. Any number of explanations could account for a Bruce Wayne doppelgänger, but per a revealing new interview, we’ve actually already seen where the mystery double came from.

Earlier this year Warner Bros. Interactive announced a two-pack of remastered Batman classics in the form of Batman: Return to Arkham. The game combines Rocksteady Studios' first two Batman games --- Arkham Asylum and Arkham City --- into a new package remade entirely in Unreal Engine 4 by Virtuous. Originally, this remaster was set to arrive in July, but Warners decided the game needed a few more months of polish before it could be released. Now, Batman: Return to Arkham has an officially official new drop date in October, and with it comes a comparison trailer showing off the differences and improvements from the PlayStation 3 version to the PlayStation 4 version.

Gotham Season 3 will be laying the Alice in Wonderland puns pretty thick by the arrival of the Mad Hatter, so we’d best get used to it now. Case in point, Season 3 becomes a “Mad City” in a new trailer for the September premiere, and a poster that goes through the looking glass. Crap, now we’re doing it.

If any series stood accused of missing what makes live-action superheroes enjoyable, it’d be FOX’s Gotham. Well, wouldn’t you know it - the showrunner who thinks “prenatal origin stories” and sexualizing 14-year old characters make great fodder for Batman’s beginnings says “I don’t think superheroes work very well on TV.”

Mileage may vary on whether Gotham does an effective job of setting up Batman’s beginnings, though most grew to embrace the bizarre proto-Joker of Cameron Monaghan’s Jerome. It may take until Season 4 before we finally see the character again, but producers at least explain how that Season 2 finale cameo came about.

Batman and Robin are back in action with the newest trailer for Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders, Warner Bros.’ newest animated version of the Dynamic Duo, complete with a vintage Batmobile, day-glo yellow utility belt, “holy insert-noun-here” exclamations, and superfluous labels on things like “GIANT OVEN.”

First one Jessica Jones star joins the Arrow-verse, and now a second heads over to FOX’s Gotham. New Season 3 set photos appear to place Kilgrave victim Kieran Mulcare in a mysterious role, but as whom? Proto-Solomon Grundy, perhaps?

If there's one thing that has made the nightmare of existence worth it over the past few years, it's been the revival of and new appreciation for the classic Batman television show. Between the long-awaited release of the series on DVD and the new adventures that have been running in the Batman '66 comic book, it's been a good time to be a fan of what is unquestionably the greatest mass-media incarnation of the Dynamic Duo. But in a few months, we're getting something all new and amazing. On October 11, Warner Bros. will release Batman: Return of the Caped Crusader, a new animated movie that's not just based on Batman '66, but also features original series actors Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar, reprising their roles as Batman, Robin, and Catwoman.

FOX’s Gotham has been … less than clear with its intent regarding Season 3's transformation from Clare Foley’s young Ivy Pepper to Maggie Geha’s full Poison Ivy, but a new photo at least sells the transition. Gone are the low-cut dresses, as a new Season 3 shot of Ivy Pepper brings back the familiar outfit.

Gotham weirdness aside, it feels like Season 3 straddles a line with the decision to age proto-Poison Ivy character Ivy Pepper from 14 year-old actor Clare Foley into 28 year-old Maggie Geha. Early promotional shots haven’t done the spin any favors, but producers and cast argue that Gotham Season 3 won’t utilize the Batman character’s inherent sexuality, or even her plant-related abilities.

It’s been non-stop Suicide Squad coverage since David Ayer’s DC villain team-up hit theaters last week, but if you’re looking for a superhero intermission, Kevin Conroy is at your service.
