Darkness has officially fallen on The Strain, and not even the light of a July premiere may lift it. The fourth and final season of FX’s Guillermo del Toro-adapted vampire drama has an official summer debut date, and an ultra-bleak new synopsis picking up after Season 3’s nuclear finale.

Even as Guillermo del Toro’s The Strain was eagerly anticipated for a live-action adaptation, few would argue that the FX series has lost some steam in its second and third years. Prior reports from del Toro capped the series around five seasons, but FX will officially eradicate the infection after four next year.

British country singer David Bradley's song "Get A Hero Home" takes me back to a time when community coming together to help one of our men (or women) in uniform find his way home, wouldn't have been thought of as a big deal.
