As FX began moving forward with Noah Hawley’s X-Men universe TV series Legion, many wondered what happened to FOX’s own project based on the Hellfire Club. That series has apparently cooled, while Burn Notice vet Matt Nix and Bryan Singer develop a new X-Men series for FOX with close ties to an underground mutant group.

Gotham already dwelt deep enough in the comic world that few were surprised to see Jada Pinkett Smith’s Fish Mooney return in Season 2 from a watery end, but less surprising is that Fish would exert her newly-cultivated influence on Season 3. Gotham bosses confirm as much, as a new Season 3 photo sees Fish making a notable entrance.

FOX’s Gotham has always seemed to crib from Batman mythology far ahead of Bruce ever donning the cowl, but rarely do we see imagery plucked from even the Dark Knight’s worst nightmares. New Season 3 set photos reveal the kind of crazy new villains tearing across Batman’s future stomping grounds, looking almost right out of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns.

The very existence of FOX’s upcoming 24: Legacy serves as reminder that Jack Bauer’s time has passed, producers even having entertained the thought of killing off their beleaguered hero in 2014 revival Live Another Day. That said, it seems Kiefer Sutherland himself led the charge in killing off Jack, casting serious doubt the actor would ever agree to reprise the role.

Gotham has been curiously opaque with its Season 3 casting of Bat-reporter Vicki Vale, first describing the character as “Valerie,” where now it seems the truth was somewhere in the middle. Once Upon a Time alum Jamie Chung has landed the Gotham Season 3 role, but with one significant twist on the Vicki Vale we know.

FOX’s upfront announcements have come and gone, cementing that The X-Files won’t return for another round just yet, even if its revival season cliffhanger left off on a pretty urgent note. David Duchovny has his own opinions on what a new season would need, but Gillian Anderson says FOX hasn’t even so much as inquired about her availability.

There may be no ceiling when it comes to TV revivals decades after the fact, but Bud Bundy from Married With Children may have come up … well, short. Despite reports of David Faustino pitching a revival of the iconically crass 1987 sitcom, patriarch Ed O’Neill says it isn’t happening anymore.

For all the anticipation going into FOX’s X-Files revival, few would argue that the awkward balance of mythology and stand-alone episodes over six hours made it difficult to gain much traction. Time will tell if Chris Carter, Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny manage to coordinate for an eleventh season revival, though Duchovny at least believes the next round would need more than six episodes to do right.

Of the many proto-Batman figures FOX’s Gotham has introduced in two seasons, perhaps none has seemed so bizarre as the pilot’s “Ivy Pepper,” a young figure implied to be the series’ take on Poison Ivy, and occasionally reappearing in minor roles. Now, it looks like Season 3 will course-correct to introduce a real Poison Ivy, aged up and recast.

Kiefer Sutherland made reasonably clear that 24 was behind him after FOX event series Live Another Day, a fact supported both by the franchise’s next Jack Bauer-free Legacy, and Sutherland’s own upcoming ABC drama. Now, producer Howard Gordon weights if they should have killed Jack Bauer off altogether, and what it might mean for a Legacy appearance.

FOX’s Gotham has a long road before its Season 3 premiere in fall 2016, in spite of some early teases for Season 3 villains, and it seems another famous Bat-character willl be making a live-action return.
