For Luke Bryan, Thursday night started out so full of promise. “It’s my anniversary. Daddy’s getting lucky,” he tweeted around 8PM ET. A few hours later he was singing the blues, but it wasn’t because of anything his wife Caroline did or didn’t do.

With his charming personality and his terrific sense of humor, Bryan was perfect for the gig. Bryan and Ellen DeGeneres (via satellite) had fun with their interviews. Normally, red carpets are serious and somewhat stale affairs, but this duo asked silly questions and lightened the mood.

Congratulations are in order for Luke Bryan. The ‘Country Girl (Shake It for Me)’ singer’s new album, ‘Tailgates and Tanlines,’ is not only the top-selling country album, it’s number two on Billboard’s overall top 200 albums chart.
‘Tailgates’ is Bryan’s first chart-topping album, outpacing 2009′s ‘Doin’ My Thing,’ which peaked at number two on the country charts and number six on the top 200. With first-week sales of more than 145,000 units, it’s the second highest-selling debut for a country artist this year, behind only Brad Paisley‘s ‘This Is Country Music.’
Luke Bryan is a busy man these days, what with his new ‘Tailgates and Tanlines’ album, the end of his tour with Tim McGraw, and a headlining spot on the CMT on Tour extravaganza — but he isn’t too busy to continue his annual Farm Tour.
And six lucky college students are about to be very thankful for that.
