The future of Star Trek may not divide humanity by nations of Earth, but back in the 21st century, CBS All-Access subscribers in the U.S. may have reason to envy abroad. The new Star Trek series will be made available on Netflix in international markets, with new episodes streaming shortly after their premiere.

Just as Netflix thought of Stranger Things than to drop its new series’ retro opening credits, so too is the streaming service going all-out to preview the July 15 release. Get hooked on the mystery, as Netflix presents the first frightening eight minutes of Stranger Things, and stay tuned for the full release!

Chances are, you or someone you know either shares their Netflix and HBO Go passwords or benefits from using someone else’s account. It’s such a common occurrence that, when asked about it, even the CEO of HBO was like, “No big deal,” then he tipped his shades and sent out a memo with a shrug emoticon — okay, I made that last part up, but if even that guy doesn’t care, then what’s the problem? Anyone who uses the service can tell you their film selection has shrunk in recent years, while other sites like Hulu and Amazon have beefed up their movie offerings. Variety writes about a new deal between Amazon Prime and Warner Bros. to boost the online retailer’s video site with a bunch of new exclusive WB titles.

Well, The CW deal with Hulu that enabled next-day streaming of the most recent five episodes may have lapsed, but Netflix subscribers are officially in for some good news. The CW has confirmed a new streaming deal that will bring full seasons of CW shows a mere eight days after their finales air on the network.

We’ll remember to pour one out for Agent Carter on the Comic-Con circuit, but it looks like the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have a new friend to play with in San Diego. Marvel has officially confirmed both its flagship ABC drama and Netflix’s Luke Cage are coming to Comic-Con 2016, the first details of which have arrived.

Marvel’s Netflix Defenders have largely kept to their home turf of Hell’s Kitchen, appearing at New York Comic-Con, rather than the big show in San Diego, but if anyone could break the mold, it’d be Luke Cage. Yes, sweet Christmas, Luke Cage is coming to Comic-Con 2016 for a sneak peek of the new Netflix series.

As with Daredevil himself, Jon Bertnthal’s Frank Castle didn’t properly adopt the mantle of The Punisher until late in Season 2, but might the character change his ways in time for the confirmed spinoff? Bernthal himself says the Frank Castle we followed through Daredevil was very much not “The Punisher” as fans know him, though that could certainly change.

The sad flip side of every month’s new Netflix releases is this post, which is the list of stuff expiring on Netflix next month. On July 1 some big catalog titles vanish from the streaming service, including Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange, and the first seven Star Trek movies. If you’re looking to pre-game Beyond with a marathon re-watch, you’ve only got about 9 days to do that.

All right, Netflixers, here it is: The list of new titles coming to the streaming service this month. As far as acquisitions go, the headliner is easily The Big Short, Adam McKay’s bitterly funny comedy about the 2008 economic collapse. There’s also the recent and critically acclaimed horror movie The Invitation, billed as a “Netflix Exclusive.” (Whatever you want to call it, our own Britt Hayes was a big fan.) There are also 19 different Netflix originals (19!!!!) this month, including the return of BoJack Horseman, my favorite show that I’ve barely watched because I have a baby and BoJack Horseman is not a show you watch in front of a baby unless you want to scar her for life.

It’s easy to take the streaming availability of network shows for granted, whether Hulu’s ability to screen most-episodes next day, or Netflix’s new season availability ahead of premieres, but CW viewers in particular are in for good news and bad. CW shows will become available on Netflix much, much faster, but at the cost of their Hulu availability.

To us, The Office is one of the best comedy series of all time. To David Brent, it’s a documentary about his life. One he seems weirdly proud of. Or at least not so ashamed of that he’s not willing to talk them again for a new documentary about his life now as a struggling musician fronting the band Foregone Conclusion.
