October 23, 1997 Barbara Mandrell gave her final performance at the Grand Ole Opry house before retiring from country music.

October 20, 1967 The first Country Music Association Awards were held. The show was hosted by Sonny James and Bobbie Gentry.

1990   A Night At The Opry Garth Brooks joins the Grand Ole Opry, and Alan Jackson makes his first appearance on the show.

The song, 'San Antonio Rose' has been covered numerous times by numerous artists.  I was shocked to find out that the top selling version of this song was by Bing Crosby! In 1940, Bing's version sold over a million copies.  It was written and also recorded by Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys, in fact it became their signature song...

1961   Welcome To The Hall - The First Class of Inductees Jimmy Rodgers, Hank Williams and songwriter Fred Rose became the first inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

 Ray Price's final recording sessions, put into an album titled 'Beauty Is...' will be made available in April.

Although the legendary Ray Price has passed away, fans and friends alike will continue to fondly remember him and the impact he made on country music. Fellow crooner Merle Haggard remembers Price as "the first outlaw."

Friends and fans of country singer Ray Price are invited to a memorial to honor the legend this weekend.

Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price has died. The singer succumbed to complications from pancreatic cancer at his home in Mt. Pleasant, Texas on Monday (Dec. 16), four days after issuing a goodbye letter to his fans and entering home hospice.

Reports of Country Music Hall of Famer Ray Price's death are premature, as the singer's wife shared that he is "still with us" in a message posted a few minutes after 4PM CT on Sunday (Dec. 15).
