Due to the WWE having its quarterly SEC filings on Wednesday the company reported that Federal agents issued and executed a search warrant on McMahon. The Feds also hit McMahon with a federal grand jury subpoena.
Daniel Bryan's journey to the main event of WrestleMania XXX in 2014 is one of my all-time favorite wrestling stories, and one of the most inspirational. And now, as we approach WrestleMania season, Aubrey Sitterson, Kendall Goode, and Jim Campbell are taking Bryan's life-long journey into comics in the pages of Boom's WWE: WrestleMania special.
Check out a preview --- and find out what other famous WrestleMania moments are making it to the page --- as we talk to Sitterson and Goode about adapting Bryan's story!
The long-promised "Women's Revolution" in wrestling may finally take root this weekend. Sunday February 12 is the Elimination Chamber live event on the WWE Network, the first branded Pay-Per-View (a colloquial word these days, but one that's stuck) for Smackdown Live in 2017. Of the seven matches announced for the show, three are women's singles matches. In fact, there's only one men's singles match, with the other three being multi-man gimmick matches, including the titular main event in the elimination chamber. And that's a big deal.
If you're like me, you've at some point said to yourself, "Gosh, I sure do love the Undertaker, but I wish he was a little more like Rat Fink!" If so, you're in luck! Playmates' new WWE Nitro Machines line of toys features an outsized Undertaker popping out of the roof of a tricked out purple hearse, leading the way with his scythe-topped cane like he's in a race against Dracula's Dragster.
The similarities between comic books --- especially superhero comic books --- and professional wrestling are nearly endless. Everyone loves to see larger-than-life heroes and villains battle in contests of good versus evil, often with a lofty prize at stake for the victor. However, comic books about wrestling have always been a somewhat tricky proportion, especially licensed ones that are expected to feature the adventures of real life wrestlers that you see on TV.
Undeterred, Boom Studios has partnered with WWE to produce new wrestling comics based on their characters and storylines and knowing their pedigree and success rate with licensed comic books, there's every chance they'll be the ones to pull it off.
Watch as some of his fans think they are auditioning for a commercial about the WWE star when suddenly the real John Cena burst through the background, complete with trumpets blaring the theme music.
If you're even tangentially into anime or tokusatsu, then you're probably already familiar with SH Figuarts, the high-end line of action figures from Bandai and Tamashii Nations, but if you're not, let me tell you how much I love them. They've been around for a few years now, and with their dedication to high levels of articulation, screen-accurate sculpts and an incredible amount of interchangeable hands, faces, and accessories, they're arguably some of the best action figures you can get --- and since most of their output has to do with Super Sentai, Kamen Rider, and Sailor Moon, I'm always keeping an eye out for their next big release.
And now, it looks like I've got to clear off another shelf. This December, as part of what I can only assume is a mission to target me, specifically, they're releasing the first two entries in a line based on late '90s WWE Superstars, starting with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and The Rock. And yes: Austin comes with a beadazzled skull vest and a couple of Stevewiesers.
