Taylor Swift Sends Flowers, Calls Fallen Marine’s Family

Taylor Swift has been getting so many requests from sick, hurt or just plain down-trodden fans these days that it’s hard to keep up. And while she can’t go to every high school prom or give every devoted fan an autograph, the ‘Safe and Sound’ hitmaker does what she can to give back to her superfans. That’s why she responded to a Marine’s request to contact the family of fallen soldier Sergeant Wade Wilson.

Swift made a personal phone call to SGT Wilson’s family in Leona, Texas and even sent them flowers to pay her respects, according to KBTX.com. Attached to the bouquet was a handwritten note that said: “Wade, Thank you for loving my music. I won’t forget it and I’ll never forget you. All my love, Taylor Swift.”

The award-winning country star is currently shooting a new music video in California. She reportedly told Sgt. Wade’s family that she would like to wear the fallen hero’s dog tags in her next video to show her support for his military service.

Sgt. Wade passed away in combat in Afghanistan on May 11. His fellow Marines are using YouTube and other social media outlets to make sure that he won’t be forgotten. His best friend, Corporal Josh Marreel, led the charge in seeking out help from the country superstar by making a video addressing her on YouTube.

“This is a shout out to the one and only Taylor Swift. I know you have no idea who I am but this video isn’t about me. This is about good buddy Sgt. Wade D. Wilson, who was killed in action Friday, May 11, 2012 in Afghanistan,” Corporal Marreel said. “Anybody that knew Willy knew that he worshiped you. He even slept with a poster of you in between our beds in Afghanistan.”

Upon seeing Corporal Marreel’s YouTube message, Swift acted quickly to get in touch with SGT Wilson’s family. She obviously can’t help out every fan and friend in need, but country music’s sweetheart will try her best anyway!

The 22-year-old Billboard Woman of the Year has been making headlines almost daily for her kind-hearted deeds. Just last week, Swift was noted for her major generosity to the future of music education. And earlier this year, she invited two-time cancer patient Kevin McGuire to be her date at the ACMs after the 18-year-old invited her to his prom. Then, she made headlines for ensuring sure that a 13-year-old fan who missed her concert stop in Sacramento (due to a tragic drunk driving accident) would have tickets for her next show in the city — and even sent her a goodie bag to tide her over.
