The Day I Became 'Nana' - Jeri Anderson's Look at 4 Years with McKayla

I always thought that being a 'Grand Mother' was going to kill me. Then came McKayla.

McKayla Marie Heinz is my 4 year old granddaughter. We just celebrated with a party with the 'mouse' (Chuck E. Cheese) on Sunday. I cannot begin to tell you how this little girl has changed my life. She is just so much fun, and oh, the things she says!

Here's an example of one of the best things she has ever said to me after being sick for a few days, "Nana, you feel all better now?" Me: "Yes, baby". McKayla: (Gasping) "I am gonna hold you! I not even gonna knock you on the ground!" You need a little background...you see, McKayla has a younger brother, Lucas, and when she hugs him too hard, she was knocking him on the ground. So she wanted to hug me so hard, but not knock me on the ground, or she would get in trouble!

Being 'Nana' to this little girl and her brother is the best thing in the world, knowing that they love me as much as I love them. When they coming running to me whenever I come to their house and want to come home with me after church, makes my day! Just loving someone so much that your heart wants to burst open. That's the feeling I have every time I see them. They have made my heart happy. I now understand the saying, 'If I had know that grandkids would be so fun, I would have had them first!'
