‘The Hangover Part III’ Star Ken Jeong To Have a Bigger Role in Sequel

Warner Bros.

‘The Hangover’ series of films have been two of the most financially successful comedies to ever hit the big screen. The first movie that came out in 2009 was a surprise hit, and a sequel quickly followed in 2011. Now there’s a third ‘Hangover’ in the works, and co-star Ken Jeong will be featured in an expanded role.

Jeong’s character of Mr. Chow, the foul-mouth wacko gangster from the first two films, will have an even more expanded role in the third movie according to THR. The plot is still being kept a secret (rumors of the gang having to break Zach Galifianakis’ character of Alan out of a mental hospital have been rumored) and all we’ve heard is that Mexico is a possible location.

Todd Phillips plans on shooting the sequel this fall. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis and Mike Tyson are all returning. Justin Bartha’s character of Doug? Who knows. For some reason he seems to be the leper in these films and is hardly ever mentioned. Instead of giving Mr. Chow an expanded role, it should be going to Bartha. The character of Mr. Chow is played out and by casting him and Tyson, fans might fear they’re going to get another recycled sequel like the one that came out last year.

If Alan is the one the guys are looking for, then give Bartha something to do besides shoot his scenes with the 2nd unit. Maybe he and Todd Phillips hate each other, who knows. Mr. Chow was a great one-and-done character. Shame we’re going to have to put up with him again for the third outing.
