At a time when the U.S. and the world as a whole seems like it has never been more divided, the Mavericks are preaching a message of hope with their new video for "Brand New Day." Readers can press play above to watch.

The "Brand New Day" music video echoes the message of the song itself, in which singer Raul Malo sings, "There'll come a time when all of your dreams / Will all disappear like a thief in the night / It's never too dark to keep out the light / There's never a wrong that you couldn't make right / Baby, tomorrow's a brand-new day / We're gonna love all our troubles away." The opening shots of the video get straight to the point, showing a dance troupe with its members twisted together and painted with a variety of words, including "apathy," "pollution," "hunger," "xenophobia," "hate," "sexism" and "homophobia" -- representing much of what's wrong with society today.

As soon as the Mavericks start to play, the dance group begins to open up and break free from each other; soon the dancers smear and smudge the writing on their bodies. By the end of the videos, there are new words painted on the dancers -- including "unity," "tolerance" and "hope." The message is pretty clear: Things may seem bad now, but they can get better if we all choose love and empathy over hate and apathy.

"I think we're definitely aspiring for a brand new day," Malo tells Rolling Stone Country. "I know this sounds idealistic and perhaps unrealistic, but I'm not one of those guys who thinks we're at the end of the world ... But we do have to be vigilant and if we have to protest and stand up for what we believe in, we will. I'm confident in the American people and in democracy in general. Maybe this is a wake-up call that we so need."

"Brand New Day" is the title track of the Mavericks' most recent album, which they released in March. The project is the group's first studio album to be released on Mono Mundo Recordings, which they started in 2016. On April 29, the foursome kicked off a 40-date 2017 tour in New Braunfels, Texas, with dates currently scheduled into December.

Brand New Day is available for download via iTunes.
