I spent most of the weekend watching the 'Twilight' series.  So when I saw this story about February having the 3rd New Moon of this season, it caught my eye.

Typically there are 3 new moons each season, (In astronomy, new moon is the first phase of the Moon, when it orbits closest to the Sun in the sky as seen from the Earth.) but sometimes a season has 4 new moons, and when they do, the 3rd one is called a black moon.  That happens tonight!  Tonight's black moon also qualifies as a supermoon. Weather.com says, 'The lunar body qualifies as a 'supermoon' since it is new and will be on it's closest approach to the Earth during orbit.'

A black moon can look very dark so keep an eye out for the thin crescent sliver that shines through before or after tonight's event!

All this moon talk makes me think of all the country songs that talk about the moon!  Take this fun poll and vote for your favorite 'Moon Song'.
