It's not exactly a new sheriff in town, but there is a brand new resident at the Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden. On Monday morning, the zoo welcomed a male giraffe calf, the fifth baby born to 16-year-old mom Ellie and dad Bogy. Dad Bogy passed away in October of 2015 due to complications of recurring gastrointestinal complications.

The as yet unnamed baby is already more than 5 feet tall, and is a Rothchild's giraffe, one of four recognized, separate breeds of giraffes. The Rothchild giraffe is considered endangered, as only 470 individuals remain in the wilds of Kenya and Uganda. The Rothschild is the tallest species of giraffe growing up to 20-feet tall and weighing as much as 2,500 pounds, with a life expectancy of about 30 years.

Reports are that mama and baby are both strong, and doing fine.
