Thomas Rhett is hard at work on new music, but he has far from just begun. In an interview with his label, Big Machine Label Group, the singer says when "Die a Happy Man" went to No. 1 he realized he had to get back into the swing of writing and recording.

“As an artist, I think you feel like you have to turn around so fast,” he admits. “I’ve gotta do this and gotta do this. You really do have time to be creative. If you don’t take that time to be creative, then you’re gonna put something out that’s not worth anybody’s time, in my opinion, or at least for myself.”

Rhett says while he's been on the road he has been writing a lot, and not just for himself.

“I’m just writing songs to try to figure out what direction my brain wants to go, what kind of songs I want to write, where I’m at in my life right now, what kind of content I want to write about,” he explains. “So it’s just really fun to get back in and be creative again and start that process again of just like well, what are we gonna do different on this one that we didn’t do on the second one that can really up the game?”

In the meantime, Rhett has recently announced the release of Tangled Up Deluxe,  which includes five new tracks. The album will be available on Oct. 28, and feature two duets and Rhett's new single, "Star of the Show."
