I have always thought of myself as a pretty adequate cook.  I can grill, roast, fry, and of course microwave, but I have always wanted to make fresh bread.

When my friends asked if I wanted to attend the Great Plains Technology Center's 4 hour class on making the dough for hot rolls, pizza, cinnamon rolls, I immediately checked my calendar.  I stay pretty booked up, but was pleasantly surprised that I had a rare opening last night for 'Hot Rolls Plus' an Adult Career Development class.  I wasn't really sure what to expect, but had the best time ever!

First we made the dough, and separated it among 8 students, then we separated the individual dough balls into thirds.  Next our class instructor Nora Mason taught us how to pinch our dough into the perfectly formed hot dolls.  While they were baking we rolled out next section of dough into a flat sheet, added butter and cinnamon and sugar and loaded our cinnamon rolls into the pans.  Last, we used our third section of dough to create monkey bread.

I was so happy that I took the time to learn something new, and must say that I totally enjoyed this learning experience with some of the best friends and some new ones too.  I have already signed up for the next class, 'Make Ahead Meals' coming up in October!  Who knows?  Someday I may be a real cook!
