From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitties 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

It's all hands on deck in our efforts to get Luna adopted into her Forever Home. We are seeing the gorgeous Luna start to decline; exhibited through stress-induced weight loss, in spite of the fact that we have doubled her caloric intake.

This 4-year old Bullmastiff mix came to us as an owner surrender. She is a friendly dog, loves people of all ages and is cat tolerant. As a general rule, she gets along with other dogs; however, she can be quite possessive and jealous of her people. Luna will do best as an only dog. She walks fairly well on a leash, gives every appearance of being house-trained and has nice house manners.

Best of all, Luna is completely sponsored! Her adoption fee has been pre-paid!! All we need is for her family to find her and take her home. If you are interested in our beautiful girl, please call SCHS at 580-252-7387 and let's arrange an introduction!

"Tips" has been at Lawton Animal Welfare since our March's Lucky Day to be Adopted event. Can we make today his Lucky Day and find him a Furever Home? He has been really patient and loves attention, but he told me he is ready to leave. He is ready to move on to the next chapter in his life. He is ready to show unconditional love to a new family.

Lawton Animal Welfare is located at 2104 SW 6th street and can be reached at 580 581-3219 or on Facebook.

This is Ruby, a female Red Bone Hound/Lab Mix, approximately 1 1/2 years old. Ruby's former family abandoned her when they moved, leaving her in their fenced-in back yard. She eventually escaped and was found by her foster family running around in the street, so they took her in. Ruby is very loyal, and loves being outside as much as possible (except when it rains), lazing around, sunbathing in the back yard. She also loves to tree squirrels.

Ruby's very sweet and would most likely thrive from being the sole pup in her new family. She doesn't seem to mind cat's too much. She will be spayed, vaccinated and microchipped before she is adopted. If you are interested in meeting this great girl, please contact Kristen at 512-775-5262.

This beautiful girl is Raina, a 1 to 2 year old airedale mix. Raina is kennel trained and almost house trained. She loves to play ball and is very gentle with her mouth. You can put your hands in her dish when she is eating and she will back away. She likes stuffed toys but will eventually shred them. Working on leash work, she lacks confidence in new situations. However, with enough love and patience she will be a great addition to your family.

Raina comes spayed, up to date with age appropriate vaccines, dewormed and heart worm negative. She receives monthly heart worm preventative and flea and tick preventative. She is also micro-chipped and the rescue pays for activation and the first year of monitoring. She also comes with 30 days of free veterinary insurance. If you are interested in her, please call Rainbow Bridge Can wait at 580-654-2513 or send us a message on Face Book.

This is our little buddy, Petey, a small to medium terrier type male. He is about a year old and he is very energetic and lovable. He is a little shy on first meet but after he gets to know you, he won't leave you alone. He loves running and jumping and rolling in the grass. He will also sneak in for a tongue in your face if you let your guard down.

If you would like to meet Petey, please call me at 580-682-9073.

Spike was surrendered to us when his caregivers could no longer care for him. He is one very handsome 2-3 year old male Schnauzer. He is very sweet and enjoys being held by everyone he meets. He will even snuggle his head underneath your chin.

Spike is current on all his vaccinations and has been neutered. He tested negative for heartworms and three tick borne diseases. Spike is crate trained and may be house trained also. He enjoys taking a walk with his new human friends on a lead. He was a little unsure about things at first, but given some time and patience, he is fitting into his new pack.

Please consider giving Spike a home for his new start in life! For more information about Spike, email swoan@swbell.net.
