From shelters to foster and adoption groups, there are many different options when you are looking to add a new four-legged member to your family. Every week Townsquare's Pet Patrol, brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital, highlights adoptable pets from across the Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas areas, hoping to find furr-ever homes for shelter pets from throughout the region.

This week we are highlighting animals from 12 shelters, and hope to add more as momentum builds for this project. We will also be featuring information on upcoming events at our local shelters, as well as bringing you information on upcoming fund raising activities for these organization.

The Pet Patrol is brought to you by Midtown Animal Hospital. We would also like to thank Just 4 K9s and Kitty 2, your home for grooming supplies, as well as all of your pets' needs, from food to beds to toys. Please remember to spay and neuter, and of course to adopt, not shop!

The SCHS Pet of the Week is Savannah, a lovely 5-year old Blue Tick Coonhound, who came to us after being picked up as a stray. Savannah is a calm, gentle girl with a lot of love to give. She is a social girl and is agreeable with dogs and cats alike; and also greatly enjoys the company of children.

Savannah has been keeping her kennel clean, leading us to believe she knows all about house manners. Her adoption fee is fully sponsored by Main Street Duncan, and she has been spayed, tested negative for heart worms, is UTD on vaccinations and has been given tick, flea & heart worm preventive. She has also been de-wormed. This is a happy, healthy dog who will make a perfect family companion!

For more information about Savannah, please call Stephens County Humane Society at 580-252-7387!

Elvis has still NOT left the building. He is looking for a loving, caring, furr-ever home, from someone who wishes to adopt instead of breed or buy. He would like to know if you'd like to come down and spend some time with him, so he can show you how much affection he has to give. He says if he can only get 5 minutes with you he'll show you that he has a lifetime commitment and love. Can you help Elvis leave the building?

Come on down and meet Elvis, and let's have him leave the building, and into a great furr-ever home, come find a new friend. Lawton Animal Welfare is located at 2104 NW 6th Street in Lawton. For more information, please call 580 355-7729.

My name is Ida Mae and I'm a sweetie and give lots of kisses who loves getting my tummy rubbed. I am crate trained and I know where to go when I'm told to go to bed. I do come when called, but be prepared as I am sometimes so excited that I jump on the person that's called my name. That's probably why it's not a good idea for me to be around little kids.

I get along with other friendly dogs (not cats though). I love going on walks and car rides, and  I'm really good when we go too. My dream person or family that loves to take me for a car ride, go on long walks, run and play. That's what I dream about when I'm taking my naps. Well, that and delicious treats.

Ida Mae's adoption fee is $140.00. She is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, heart worm negative, on monthly heart worm preventative, and free of intestinal parasites. The rescue pays to activate the microchip and for up to one year of monitoring. If you are interested in Ida Mae, contact Rainbow Bridge Can Wait on FB or Pet Finder.

This is Scarlet. She was found in the middle of the street, eating something dead and she had a broken leg. She was taken to the vet, who did surgery to wire the bone back together. She is now getting around pretty good.

Scarlet is about 7 month old, and we're not quite sure of her breed, but she has beautiful amber eyes and a black tongue. If you can give Scarlet a good home where she is safe and loved, please call us at 580-682-9073.

Trinket was found in a small town by a nice lady who tried to find her owner. She spent days searching without any success. She didn’t have room for her in her home and she didn’t want to take her to a local animal control. So she reached out for a rescue that could find her a new home. So we took her into our rescue program. She is very loving and enjoys human companionship and she does well with new canine friends. We think she is a Chihuahua that is at least 7-8 years old.

Trinket has been spayed and is current on all her vaccinations. She appears to be house trained. She tested negative for heart worms and 3 tick born diseases. Trinket would be a great companion dog.

For more information about adopting Trinket, e-mail swoan@swbell.net.

Willbarger Humane Society (Vernon, TX) - 940 552-5373

Wilbarger Humane Society's Pets of the Week is the ADORABLE Morgan and Clover, a pair of 5 months old kittens that have already stared on the TV3 news. Morgan feels like his future may be as an anchor on the noon news or as an investigative reporter for cat burglaries. He is grey and white and the only boy in his litter of three. His sisters Clover is also available. They were brought in when their owner had to move and could not take them. They love to play and run around (one even occasionally falls in the mop bucket). While Morgan has aspirations of television fame, Clover is happy to just be held and cuddled. Either one would make a perfect companion for a family or why not take them together for double the fun!

If you think Morgan and/or are right for you, come check them out at the shelter. We are located at 2801 Sullivan St in Vernon Tx. You can reach us by phone at 940-552-5373 or by email at whs76384@gmail.com. To put an application on any of our animals please visit www.wilbargerhumanesocietyvernontx.org
