Tragedy Strikes Final Night of Racing at the Lawton Speedway

The final night of racing for the 2014 season at the Lawton Speedway was marred by a tragic accident that left one man dead.

Terry Blair, Jr.,29, was pronounced dead at a Lawton hospital after he fell from the tractor that he was riding on just after the opening ceremonies.  Lawton police were called to the scene and racing was delayed during the investigation.

I have been the track announcer at the Speedway for the last 4 years, and while I do not know every person that works at the track, Terry made it a point to speak to me each Saturday as we were preparing to leave.

Blair followed his fathers footsteps by working at the track.  We have said so many times, racing is in your blood. He leaves behind three daughters, family, and many, many friends at the Lawton Speedway.
