The Golden State Warriors are tearing through the NBA like the other teams are a bunch of small fry squads, while the Philadelphia 76ers are limping through like they're one of those small fries other teams long to play.

As of this writing, the defending champion Warriors are a perfect 18-0, while the Sixers are a bottom-feeding 0-18. They're streaks of impressive and depressive magnitudes that could theoretically go on all season, although the likelihood of that is obviously smaller than Philadelphia catching fire and making the playoffs.

The Warriors own the record for most wins to open a season and have won 22 consecutive regular season games, dating back to least season. That's the third-longest in NBA history, 11 shy of the 33 consecutive victories posted by the '71-'72 Lakers.

The Warriors will endure their first real test of the season, now that Harrison Barnes, the team's third-leading scorer, will miss at least three games, due to an ankle injury.

The 76ers have set the NBA record for most losses to begin a season and have dropped 28 straight going back to last season. That's believed to be a record for the four major North American sports leagues. On the bright side, they've lost their last five by a total of 24 points, so at least they're keeping things close.

And, if you're curious, the teams will meet for the first of two meetings on January 30 (what on earth will that spread be?) in the City of Brotherly Love -- assuming, of course, something Biblical happens and they play in the NBA Finals, which we're not betting on.
