My Bucket List just lost one entry.  I just returned from my very first trip to our Nation's Capitol, Washington DC!

When my sister called to tell me of a meeting that she was to attend in DC, I was heartbroken. Washington DC has always been on my list of places that I would love to visit, but even when we lived on that side of the country, it just never happened. Knowing that I had just been off work for my knee surgery, my sister hesitated asking me if I would like to attend, but she did ask, and I was able to take off on an adventure that was quick and so heartfelt I am not sure there are words to describe the feelings.

I realized just how small we are in the scheme of the history of the world.  That realization came to me standing before President Abraham Lincoln, at the Lincoln Memorial.  How can you look on that giant of a man and not feel like our problems are completely insignificant?

The cold (33 degrees) and the rain made the tour a little uncomfortable, but the information, and just being where so many greats in our history has stood made this trip one of my favorite.
