What Scares You? – Book Of Jeri
"The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear."--- H.P. Lovecraft
Little things scare me. Tiny spiders, weird creaking in the middle of the night. Waking up, thinking that you have seen something that clearly is not there. All of these things have happened to me, and I just shake my head and go on, like most of us do. With the approach of the scariest of Holidays (I really don't think that Halloween is a Holiday, but I didn't know what else to call it!), I have found some very interesting things that scare people, just in time for Halloween.
Fear of Noises - Phonophobia
Fear of Cats (Black or Not) - Elurophobia
Fear of Being Buried Alive - Taphephobia
Fear of Cemeteries - Coinetrophobia
Fear of Ghosts - Phasmophobia
Fear of Halloween - Samhainophobia
These phobias are documented in reference books of some sort, and are listed at The Indexed Phobia List. I do need to point out that my picture of the beautiful Fall flowers has a phobia all it's own. Anthrophobia - The Fear of Flowers! Seriously? Well, my greatest fear, as my family and friends will tell you, is Escalators. I checked the list, and it's not on there! A new one for the List! Maybe I will get published!
